Jump Rope for Heart!

On Monday, February 8 9:30am to 3:30pm, Yoshikai Elementary students will jump rope to help the American Heart Association.  Sponsor forms were sent home with students along with directions on how to make a donation on-line.  Please visit www.americanheart.org/jump to log in and help your child create a donation page, send out emails to friends and family, and save lives in a fun, easy way!

 

Why Jump Rope for Heart?

  1. More than 9 million children are overweight and 36 percent get no exercise.
  2. Obesity among the nation’s youth has tripled in the past 15 years.
  3. Cardiovascular disease in the No. 2 cause of death in children under age 16 and the No. 1 cause of death in children under age 1.
  4. Congenital cardiovascular defects are the most common cause of infant deaths from birth defects.
  5. Obesity is the fastest growing cause of illness and death in the U.S.
  6. For the first time in history, children’s life spans are predicted to be less than their parents because of inactivity and obesity-related illnesses.
