Yoshikai Elementary is committed to creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment. As we review and evaluate our safety and security procedures and protocols, we encourage parents to remind students not to bring toys that look like weapons or any objects that might cause harm to others. Students are encouraged to tell an adult if they see or hear of any item that might make the school unsafe. Safe and secure facilities promote a stronger and healthier learning environment where students and staff can teach, learn, play, and grow.

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to Yoshikai!
Our Scholastic Book Fair is a reading event that provides the books kids want to read. It’s a wonderful selection of engaging and affordable books for every reading level.
Come see us during conferences:
Monday, November 20, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Tuesday, November 21, 2017 from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Shop online at http://www.scholastic.com/bf/yoshikai from November 15, 2017 through November 28, 2017 for an even larger selection of books.
Reading for pleasure inside and outside of school has real and long-lasting benefits. It unlocks the power of information and imagination and helps children discover who they are. Please make plans to come to our Book Fair and be involved in shaping your child’s reading habits.
Remember, all purchases benefit our school.
See you at the Book Fair!
Any student who wishes to attend a school other than his or her assigned school starting January 2018 must submit an In-District Transfer request (IDT) between November 1 and 30, 2017.
IDT request forms can be picked up at any school office, and must be completed and returned to the student's assigned school during the application date window. There is no guarantee a transfer request will be approved.
Students attending school on an approved IDT are not eligible for bus service. Parents must provide transportation to and from school.
Please remember, school offices will be closed November 22, 23 and 24, 2017. IDT applications may be dropped off at the Office of K-12 Education on November 22, 2017. However, the K-12 office will be closed on November 23 and 24, 2017.

Emergency School Closures and Delays
In the event of bad weather, district officials will make the decision by 5:15 a.m. that day to close all or selected schools or to delay the start of school.
First information is sent to the Emergency Messages website, then specific news media are notified of the closures and delays. If no announcement is made it's safe to assume that the district is operating as usual.
